MAYBE I’M TRIPPIN

Okay at this point in life if I’m going to complete my Doctorate degree or even my Ph.D successfully I’m going to need my parents to leave me the heck alone!

Allow me to explain please…

Right now I’m working on my Masters (one more semester to go!! Yay!) and it’s hectic just off the strength of my parents demands. Ya know I’m Cameroonian. African parents are OC bruh! OC = Outta control.

Stay with me…

Ain’t one kid I know who didn’t grow up hearing the talk “Jr? hmmm Jr! Jr! Jr! how many time did I call you? Listen to me, you must become doctor, lawyer, or engineer!” … “Do not disgrace this family ohh! Look at ya aunt’s son, he is a big boy now driving big big big car. You must do succeed as well ohh!”

Look, I didn’t even major in anything remotely close to those things listed above in undergrad and I’m currently not even drifting close still. Took some difficult conversations and death stares but I know my lane and I’m doing well in it. My choice to pursue this higher level degrees in first off all because I partially like school even though I’m not the brightest person out here, I’m thinking ahead and wonna make sure my future family straight and children have a good example to follow, and also because I want to make my parents proud.

But if I’m going to make them proud, I need them to give me some elbowroom to make this joint happen! LoL ! It gets hectic man! “For every one credit hour in which you enroll, you will spend approximately two to three hours outside of class studying. Therefore, 3 credit hours (1 course) = 3 hours in class per week = 6-9 hours study time per week.”[1] So lets do the math… I’m taking three courses this semester as part-time student, working a part-time job which most weeks feels like full-time when you factor in them overtime hours I take to be able to balance out some of these bills, also doing music part-time as an artist and engineer, and last but certainly not least a full-time Christian. Did you catch that? Because I got lost in my math somewhere between 6-9 hours per 3 credit hours of study and work. smh. That’s a whole days spent! Where in the heck am I to find time to be going about running your errands and doing just about every little thing in the house for you, like coming all the way downstairs to pick up the remote control on the table my your kicked up feet to hand it to you, mom and pops?

Maybe I’m a selfish son. Maybe I’m inconsiderate.

Maybe I’m overblowing it. Maybe I’m not managing my time well.

Maybe I’m possed to been moved out and won’t have to worry bout this in the first place! LoL

Maybe I’m tripping. Maybe I’m wrong for this one.

And maybe I’m a broke boy who can’t afford a spot and need to shut up and appreciate the roof and meals before he end up homeless.

It says, “Do all things without grumbling or disputing,” Philippians 2:14 and the Lord also said, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Ephesians 61-3.

All I’m saying is I’m just going to need my people to understand and bare with me when I say no sometimes because my priorities are calling me to other things. Today just been a hectic day tho, so I penned this down. But this is seasonal. This too shall pass. We tough out here! I was made for greatness. I aint never scared. I press on.

Oh, wait. Please pray for me LoL. I cannot do this on my own strength. Jesus take the wheel!

THIS AINT TO BASH MYPARENTS! I LOVE THEM AND WILL DO ANYTHING FOR THEM WHENEVER! I JUST HAD A LOOOOOOONGGGG DAY LOL.. LONG WEEK.
