Plantain and Proverbs, was selected for the very first annual All Voices Film Festival by Amazon Prime Video. All Voices Film Festival is a digital short film festival celebrating underrepresented communities. This “Short Films Celebrating Diversity” is streaming from June 3rd- June 24th .

Plantain and Proverbs Synopsis:
On the cusp of graduation from college, four millennial African descent first-generation friends struggle to adult in Washington DC while still trying to follow the guidance of their African immigrant parents. Adeze, Adanna, Ashely and Chuckwuemeka attempt to navigate through the modern-day troubles of becoming adults as children of immigrants in America.

Plantain and Proverbs was directed, written and produced by me, Chuckwunonso Angel Dureke, a young Nigerian American female Storyteller located in Washington DC and recent graduate from Howard University's Masters in Film Program. The Only HBCU with a Master's in film program.
My cast and crew was 100% made up of people of color. Lastly, all of the first generation paintings you will see on the set of the film was done by Oil on Canvas Painter & Graphic designer artist Chidinma Dureke.
