Falling In Thanksgiving
It is fall! We are approaching my favorite time of the year. I love the holiday season; I love warm beverages, blankets, and anything warm and fuzzy; I love this season. So much.
This season makes an end and a new beginning seem so near. I love this season--I can't express it enough. Unfortunately, the holiday season is difficult for a lot of people. I know this because it's been difficult for me, too, some years in the past.
Thanksgiving rolls around each year to hopefully nudge us into being thankful about something. My guess is that the more we have for which to be thankful, the better our thanksgiving and holiday experience.
This thanksgiving, if you have your health, money, a house, a career, and a great social network, you might say, "I am thankful for everything I have." But what if you had none of that? What if it was all crumbling down to pieces? Would you still be thankful? Would you be more, or less thankful, for the little crumbles you have left?
There's a song I've been fond of, as of late ("Even If" by Mercy Me). It says,
.... it only takes a little faith to move a mountain. Well good thing, a little faith is all I have, right now.
It goes on to say,
I know You're able and I know You can
Save through the fire with Your mighty hand
But even if You don't
My hope is You alone
This Thanksgiving, I hope we are more thankful for what we have less of. I hope we appreciate warmth morein frigid, cold temperatures; I hope we say grace more meaningfully when we are desperately looking fill our empty stomachs. This Thanksgiving, I hope we are reminded that we don't need much faith to be faithful.
He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you" (Matthew 17:20)
May this fall translate into your highest level of praise and thanksgiving!
Till next time.
